Perhaps in no other place in the world the history of man and the great history of the earth have merged in such a sublime and spectacular way as in these cities. Daughters of the earth born from the soul of a volcano, they have become a true masterpiece of geology and art. Since Etruscan times, the workability of tuff has allowed man to sculpt his city playing with solids and voids, making immemorial his visions up until the Middle Ages. We will cross these places and their infinite wonders, we will go to the discovery of the lost city of Vitozza and its caves, we will get lost at the sight of the high spurs of tuff and of the cities that merge and blend with the rock without interruption resulting in a perfect balance between man and nature. We will enter the depths of time and earth, walking inside the testimonies of ancient populations in a landscape that seems immune to the contamination of our contemporary world: the vie cave, narrow paths carved into the earth whose walls are over 20 meters high.

ORGANIZATION/GUIDE 90 €
per person for organization, coordination and assistance of qualified environmental excursionist
guide (according to L.R. 42 of 23/03/2000 and subsequent amendments) for two days and return passage to the car. To be paid at the time of booking.
OVERNIGHT ACCOMODATION/DINING/ VARIOUS from 120 €
To be paid directly to the structures for a stay of 1 night with accommodation, subject to
availability, in double rooms including breakfast + dinner and lunch box and water the following day.
The fee does not include travel costs to be made by car, packed lunch on the first day, any extras.
MAXIMUM TERM FOR REGISTRATION 15 days before the beginning of the excursion.

RISTORO PERNOTTAMENTO
Portare 2lt d'acqua per primo giorno e Pranzo al sacco ed eventuale Snack da consumarsi durante l'escursione. La cena è prevista presso la struttura selezionata cosi come la colazione. E qui ci faremo preparare un pranzo al sacco e dell'acqua per la giornata di viaggio.
PROGRAM
DAY 1
We will start from Sovana, a very important Etruscan center with its vast necropolis and monumental tombs. As we pass, swinging between space and history and the diverse Gothic, Romanesque and Lombard styles, our journey through time begins.
We will walk towards Pitigliano, crossing the beautiful and enigmatic deep hollow streets until we lose the horizon and feel more and more the magic of the same land that conquered the Etruscans. We will continue through fields and woods until we land in the evening, like ancient merchants, in the beautiful San Quirico for a dinner and night suspended in the Middle Ages.
DAY 2
In the morning we will continue our archeotrekking experience heading towards the rocky complex of Vitozza, inhabited from the 12th to the 18th century, the area was naturally protected by steep cliffs. In the Middle Ages it was also equipped with a fortress and boundary walls made of tuff, still visible today together with the remains of a hall church with apse. The housing settlement consisted in caves (180) with various rooms, dug into the rock and arranged on multiple levels, connected by stairs. We will wander inside them to understand more and more the close relationship between this people and tuff. As we continue, we will find ourselves in front of the view of a fortress and houses that extend seamlessly towards the sky without interruption.
This is Sorano the most ancient of the cities of tuff, dedicated to the god Sur (The Black god of the underworld), developed thanks to this fascinating intrigue between underground and cave where the inferior and the superior continue to play and interlace.
In the afternoon, coasting along rivers and through woods of the splendid Tuscan landscape, we will approach Sovana which, after having made this immersive journey through land and time, will appear to us different. But this is the magic of the cities of tuffs. Always the same for centuries but always different to the eye.
SAFETY CANCELLATIONS AND MODIFICATIONS
The practicability of the trails may be affected by weather conditions. In case of adverse weather, the excursion can be cancelled even with short notice. It will be our concern to inform the participants as soon as possible if faced with this eventuality.
The guide in charge of the excursion reserves the right to modify the itinerary if necessary, depending on weather conditions or other factors that may create difficulties for the safety of the group.
THE FEE INCLUDES
Organization, coordination and conduction of activities. Accompaniment with Environmental
Hiking Guide qualified under the L.R. 86/2016 and subsequent amendments. RCT insurance for the entire duration of the excursion.
